The business of housing complexes for pensioners seems to be lucrative.

But the luxury apartments are not for the small purse.

Gronau – Living in a small apartment in the big city in old age?

This is everyday life for many retirees.

But it could soon be different – ​​as long as you have the money.

Because in 2024, a new living concept is to be created in Gronau in the Münsterland region, which should be particularly interesting for pensioners.

In the coming year, the company lively will open a residential complex that is specifically designed to offer retirees the most luxurious and comfortable life possible.

Apartments for pensioners against loneliness

On its website, the company advertises a "hybrid living model" which combines the areas of "living, activity, care and service".

The saying is particularly emphasized: "A place where loneliness is not a foreign word." So if you want to move into the pensioners' paradise described in Gronau, you can rent an apartment there.

However, this is nothing for the small purse.

An apartment for one person with around 54 square meters costs 1371 euros per month.

However, WiFi, a concierge service and free coffee, tea and water are included here.

In addition, the apartments are on the ground floor, so they are precisely tailored to the needs of older people.

If you want to move in as a couple, you can also rent a larger apartment with around 77 square meters and a private balcony.

However, this then costs 1890 euros per month.

Pensioners' paradise: Apartments are not for the small purse

For comparison: According to the rent index, the price per square meter in Gronau is 8.62 euros.

For a 77 square meter "normal" apartment you would pay an average of 663.74 euros.

In the pensioners' luxury complex, the square meter for a 77-square-meter apartment, which costs 1470 euros cold, costs around 19.10 euros.

According to the Economic and Social Science Institute (WSI) of the Hans Böckler Foundation, pensioners received an average pension of 1277 euros in 2021.

For women it was only 807 euros.

The housing project is therefore definitely intended more for well-heeled seniors.

However, the concept seems to be lucrative, as more and more companies are jumping on the bandwagon.

The companies wohnvoll or The Embassies also want to offer pensioners a home in the future.

All areas of life such as living, shopping and social aspects are to be linked there - almost like a university campus only for pensioners.
