Castillo, pioneer in investigations and accusations in the exercise of office 9:48

The Organization of American States (OAS) convened a special meeting of the Permanent Council for this Thursday, in which it is scheduled to discuss the political and social situation in Peru.
The session is due to a request by President Pedro Castillo to the OAS Secretary General, Luis Almagro, to apply articles 17 and 18 of the Inter-American Democratic Charter, which establish this measure "when the government of a member state considers that it is at risk their democratic institutional political process or their legitimate exercise of power,” as well as “with the prior consent of the affected government, arrange visits and other steps in order to analyze the situation.”
In a letter published by the OAS and signed by Castillo, the president requested that the organization take measures to "preserve democratic institutions and the legitimate exercise of power."
The letter cites the Peruvian president's denunciations of an alleged "new form of coup d'état" that is taking place in Peru.
The Peruvian prosecutor filed a constitutional complaint against Castillo and both he and his close circle have been singled out in recent months for alleged cases of corruption, accusations that all have rejected.
