Alejandro OM is well known by police investigators on the Costa del Sol. At 42 years old, he has four arrests, all for drug trafficking.

He is from Malaga, lives in Torremolinos and is known as

Cabeza perro.

Despite his criminal credentials, he was released last summer, although the agents kept an eye on him.

In the middle of July they detected that he was carrying out some suspicious activities that could mean that he was back in business.

Paola also participated in them, a woman of Colombian nationality who was married for a time to one of the nephews of the late Manuel Charlín Gama, patriarch of one of the historic Galician drug trafficking clans.

Weeks later, the investigation revealed that both were part of an organization based on the coast of Malaga that bought, stored and distributed cocaine on a large scale in Spain.

Three months after the start of the investigation, led by the Narcotics Group 1 of the Drug and Organized Crime Unit (Udyco) of the Costa del Sol, the National Police has arrested nine people from this gang of drug traffickers based in the Malaga coast and links with the clan of Los Charlines de Vilanova de Arousa (Pontevedra).

The criminals imported cocaine to later trade with it in different parts of the national territory.

During the operation, called Papito, 230 kilos of that narcotic substance and another two of hashish have been seized, as well as 234,000 euros, a firearm and several vehicles.

Eight of the people arrested —located in the provinces of Malaga, Granada and Madrid— have already been imprisoned for the alleged crimes of belonging to a criminal organization,

The drug traffickers were supplied with the drug in Marbella and Madrid, according to the police hypothesis.

Cocaine arrived on the Costa del Sol in containers transferred from the port of Algeciras.

To the capital of Spain, with the same method but with merchandise from Galicia.

The leader of the gang was Alejandro OM, an old acquaintance of the Malaga police for his four previous arrests, two of them by the same drug group that has arrested him again now.

It was precisely the suspicion that he had resumed drug trafficking that gave rise to the investigation, in which members of the Udyco of Pontevedra have also participated.

Little by little, the agents revealed the connections of this man from Malaga with the Los Charlines clan despite the "many security measures" they had to try to avoid police work, such as the use of frequency detectors to interfere with beacons. police, according to police sources.

The investigators, however, were able to clarify the work of each of the alleged drug traffickers as their work progressed.

In addition to the leader from Malaga, the National Police highlights the participation of Paola, the ex-partner of the nephew of the patriarch of Los Charlines, whom the agents highlight for her "nerves of steel".

She was dedicated to transporting the drug and collecting the money from the sale and purchase operations.

To move it, he used vehicles with hiding places located in the trunk to which a hydraulic system had been installed for its opening.

Among other destinations, shipments to cities such as Malaga, Marbella, Granada and Madrid were detected.

In one of them 30 kilos of cocaine were intercepted.

Below the two top managers, other members of the gang were dedicated to hiding cocaine in nurseries.

One of them was located in a body and paint shop in an industrial estate in Marbella, where a car was parked containing 80 kilos of cocaine and a short firearm ready to be used.

The drug was also hidden in a dump located in a house belonging to another of those investigated —where there were 50 kilos— and a building in the municipality of San Agustín de Guadalix (Madrid) in which another 30 kilos were found.

The rest of the participants had the mission of distributing the drug through different territories of the provinces of Malaga and Granada.

One of them was arrested with 140,000 euros in cash.

The nine detainees in the Papito operation were brought to justice and eight of them entered prison.

The case is in the hands of the Investigating Court Number 5 of Torremolinos (Málaga).

Civil Guard operation against marijuana trafficking

More than 150 Civil Guard agents have been deployed since early in the morning in the Malaga towns of Torremolinos, Mijas and Fuengirola in an operation focused on the fight against marijuana trafficking.

Throughout the day the agents have carried out more than a dozen searches and have arrested 16 people, according to police sources.

They have also seized half a million euros in cash, weapons, marijuana, vehicles and electronic material.

The operation, which is still open, is part of an investigation by the Organized Crime and Anti-Drug Team (EDOA) of Malaga and civil guards from the Malaga Command and the Regional Center for Analysis and Intelligence against Drug Trafficking (Crain) have participated in it. .
