A group of Wisconsin taxpayers has asked the Supreme Court to temporarily block the Biden administration's student loan forgiveness program from going into effect.
The student loan forgiveness application officially opened on Monday.
Student loan forgiveness could begin as early as Sunday, Oct. 23, if the court doesn't intervene, according to the Brown County Taxpayers Association's emergency filing.
The request was addressed to Judge Amy Coney Barrett.

The Biden administration is facing several legal challenges over the program, but this is the first to reach the Supreme Court.
The taxpayer group's lawsuit has not gained ground in the lower courts.
A federal trial judge dismissed the case within two days of its filing.
In a one-sentence order, the US Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit also denied the plaintiff's emergency request for a break.
