Mogadishu-SANA
Two people, including a soldier, were killed in a terrorist attack in the Hiran region of central Somalia, north of the capital, Mogadishu.
AFP quoted the Somali military official in the region, Captain Abdirahman Osobo, as saying in a statement today: "A suicide bomber from the extremist Al-Shabab movement linked to the terrorist organization (Al-Qaeda) blew up his car at a military checkpoint at the Galaxy base in the region, 370 km north of Mogadishu, the capital, killing two people, including a soldier.
Osobo pointed out that the government forces managed to contain the attack before it reached its main target.
Last May, four people were killed and others wounded as a result of a suicide terrorist attack that targeted a checkpoint near the airport of the Somali capital, Mogadishu.
