If you are also addicted to emojis - be careful, because their meaning changes Israel today

Studies have shown that adults usually express themselves with emojis according to their verbal configuration, while young people use them in more creative ways

Sometimes I find myself during correspondence on the phone burning long seconds in search of the right emoji for my message - scrolling through the small symbols until I find the one that best suits the sentence I wrote or the development of the conversation.

Like everyone else, I use emojis to describe my feelings, and to express feelings and gestures that cannot be expressed in writing.

Emoji is not just a hollow and colorful addition to a text message.

The popularity of emojis is based on their being universal and simple to understand drawings.

Through them we are now able to communicate in writing even with those who do not speak and read our language.

Generation Z grew up to this reality.

Zoomers (born 1997 to 2012) don't know a world without emojis, but they read them a little differently.

Yes, the generation gap has also reached emojis.

Last week it was announced in the international media that Generation Z wants to remove ten symbols that highlight gaps between the generations.

The undo list includes thumbs up (👍), red heart (❤️), poop smiley (💩), ok sign (👌), ok check (✔️), crying face (😭), monkey hiding eyes (🙈), clapping (👏 ), a kiss (💋) and a twitching face (😬).

The reason for the cancellation, according to the Zomers, is that the gap between the generations produces wrong messages in the conversation.

For example, in the view of Zoomers, a thumbs up can be interpreted as a rude and disparaging response.

Adults do use it as an emoji indicating "good job" or approval, but young people add a thumb in sarcastic statements or for passive-aggressive purposes ("good job, you ruined everything 👍").

Using a red heart, other than in conversations with friends and family, may get you sleazy because the youth TikTok uses ❤️ to soften harsh and controversial statements.

And you'll agree that a smiling poop sms has always been out of place and a bit smelly.

Studies have shown that adults usually express themselves with emojis according to their verbal configuration, while young people use them in more creative and even metaphorical ways.

Let's say, the members of generation Z replaced the laughing face with a skull emoji (💀) which means: I died laughing.

Now you will stand up and say "the youth has gone crazy again", and "just don't touch my thumb", but such drastic changes in the meaning of agreed paintings should not surprise us.

Emojis have become a legitimate language, and this is a fairly normal development of interpersonal communication.

A raised thumb is no different from a word that updates its literal meaning from generation to generation.

In contemporary slang, "pee", "rocket", "son of a bitch" or "retarded" are words that represent a positive meaning, while the word "negro" which used to be legitimate in the lexicon - is now a racist insult.

It is a revival of language.

So if you thought that frequent use of emoji would make you look young and cool in WhatsApp messages - it is important to know that in some cases one wrong emoji may reveal how out of date you are.

Thumbs up if you agree.
