The International Publishers Association recently joined the Syrian Publishers Association for its development in the publishing industry in Syria and the Arab world, and the elements it possesses to qualify it for joining.

The head of the Syrian Publishers Union, Haitham Al-Hafiz, said in a press conference as part of the book fair in Al-Assad Library: This joining is very important in these difficult circumstances, after the union was able to meet specifications that many unions may not have in free publishing, respect for what writers write, and protect their visions.

Al-Hafiz indicated that the joining of the Syrian Publishers Union has great hope for the development of publishing at the Arab and international levels, which leads to the development of writing and the establishment of new and useful visions, pointing to the opening of the publishing gateway to the world, and the expansion of the education system that serves our national and human culture.

Researcher Dr. Mahdi Dakhlallah, a member of the central leadership of the Arab Socialist Ba’ath Party, pointed out the importance of Syria’s joining, which reveals many of the elements of civilization in it that transcend Western countries. The freedom in Syria does not exist in many countries of the world, which prevents any writer criticizing its colonial aspirations. America did when it banned some Russian books and novels from being published.

The Director-General of the Syrian General Book Organization, Dr. Nayef Al-Yassin, said in a special statement to SANA that publishing in Syria has achieved most of the goals, and it is a healthy phenomenon and sheds light on most of what the book wants, while giving many opportunities for publication, especially that what was presented at this year’s exhibition was with discounts. Good, indicating the importance of joining the Syrian Publishers Association to the International Federation, because of the freedoms it possesses to publish and protect the author's property.

As for Hassan Muhammad Adnan Salem, Executive Director of Dar Al-Fikr, he indicated that joining consolidates the role of Syrian publishers in the world, and shows what Syria possesses in terms of protecting books and the ability of publishers to express themselves.
