Deputy Head of the Russian delegation to the United Nations Konstantin Vorontsov confirmed that the Kyiv regime forces are laying mines on roads between residential and public buildings in the areas they still control.
And the website of Russia Today channel quoted Vorontsov as saying during the meeting of the First Committee of the General Assembly that "Ukrainian forces deliberately plant mines on roadsides between residential areas, rural paths, bridges, dams and areas around residential buildings, where there are children and educational and medical institutions," noting that civilians suffer from Difficult situations, where the Kyiv regime, according to a preconceived scenario, accuses the Russian army of supposedly indiscriminate strikes and the killing of the civilian population.
Vorontsov stressed that Kyiv's actions are a direct violation of international humanitarian law, especially the Convention on Inhumane Weapons, as well as the Convention on the Prohibition of Anti-Personnel Mine.
Ukraine ratified in 2005 the Ottawa Convention, which prohibits the use, stockpiling and production of anti-personnel mines, yet it is by using these mines extensively in violation of its international obligations.
