The Lion Rock Tunnel was suspected of bursting water pipes, the slow line was closed and there were long queues. Shatin residents who went out of Kowloon to return to work complained.
Today (20th) at 6:24 a.m., a driver found that the Lion Rock Tunnel was heading out of Kowloon and there was a canal covering the road.
Tunnel staff immediately went to deal with it.
The Transport Department announced that due to urgent maintenance, the slow lane of the Lion Rock Tunnel towards Kowloon was closed, and motorists could only use the remaining lanes.
In addition, the pipeline traffic lanes of the Lion Rock Tunnel (towards the New Territories) have been changed to two-way traffic.
At present, the Che Lung Mau at Lion Rock Tunnel (towards Kowloon) has reached Sha Tin Road near Prince of Wales Hospital.
The department urges motorists to consider switching to other roads.
Members of the public please note that KMB services will be affected.
Citizens travelling to the Kowloon area should consider using other public transport services, such as MTR services.
Citizens in Sha Tin district going to work in Kowloon chanted online, "It's a slogan."
The incident also affected vehicles from Kowloon to the New Territories as the traffic lanes of the pipeline bound for the New Territories were changed to two-way traffic.
At about 8 am, the Lion Tunnel headed to Lung Mei in the direction of Shatin, and went to Baptist University.
