Cultural outings: what to do in Nice this weekend?

Concerts, theatre, activities for adults and children: Le Figaro gives you ideas for outings to do on this first weekend of the All Saints holidays in Nice and its surroundings.


Theatre, cinema, concerts, exhibitions, walks, gastronomic or sporting events: every week,

selects for you a list of events not to be missed to spend a good weekend in Nice.

That of October 21 to 23, the first weekend of the All Saints holidays, promises to be radiant.

The mercury could flirt with 24 degrees on Saturday in the Baie des Anges, with good clearings in anticipation.

  • Laetitia Casta on the boards

From Friday evening, meet at the Anthéa Theater in Antibes to watch the actress and model, Lætitia Casta, on stage as Clara Haskil, a high-flying pianist, relatively unknown to the general public.

This artist, born in 1895, had yet been described as a

"true genius"

by Charlie Chaplin himself.



Accompanied by Isil Bengi on the piano, Lætitia Casta embarks the public on the existence, both extraordinary and tragic, of the pianist of Romanian and Swiss origin.

  • The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco with the family

To get the holidays off to a good start, the Oceanographic Museum of Monaco offers activities to share with the family, from Saturday until 6 November.

"Go on a polar mission in immersion in the heart of the Arctic and Antarctica, meet the animals of the seaside, sea turtles, live the ImmerSEAve 360° experience in virtual reality, or take up the challenges of the Escape Game of the museum.

The Oceanographic Museum of Monaco also has 90 pools to meet 6,000 species of fish and invertebrates in their natural environment.

It is also a shark lagoon, to be observed behind a 30cm thick glass.

A face to face with an ecosystem living in 400,000 liters of sea water at a depth of 6m.

Or even a space dedicated to sea turtles and a gigantic cabinet of curiosities.



The museum is open daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

  • Discover heritage from an early age

Another event for young and old: the

"

Monument Jeu d'enfant" event, to discover the heritage with the family through shows, workshops for children, architecture and Lego events, and visits.

This will take place on Saturday and Sunday in La Turbie, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin and Saorge.



At La Turbie, for example, a historical and humorous show “The mythos of the stadium” is scheduled for Saturday at 2 p.m.

At 3 p.m., an “Olympic Games” workshop will offer children an introduction to the sports of antiquity: jumping with dumbbells, discus throwing, arms races.

An experience to discover the Greek Olympic Games and the daily life of the Gallo-Roman world.



Sunday, from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., at Villa Kerylos, in Beaulieu-sur-Mer, a puppet show

"Daedalus and the Labyrinths of Villa Kerylos"

will offer the little ones to discover the mysteries of Greek legends and the magic of Villa Kerylos.

  • Discover the humor of Maxime Gasteuil

The troublemaker of the French comedy scene, Maxime Gasteuil, is expected on Saturday evening in the great hall of the Acropolis exhibition center in Nice, where he will perform his only performance on stage “Return to the sources”:

“Since his first show in which he s annoyed by the lack of common sense of our time, Maxime Gasteuil tried everything to calm down: yoga, dinners with friends, traveling to Tulum... But it was by leaving Paris and returning to his parents, to St-Emilion, that he finally understood why… He will never calm down.”

From October 22 to November 5, the Museum of Asian Arts, in Nice, offers a visit to

"Japan of yesteryear"

through a playful and creative discovery of the works of the Japanese artist Hokusai, such as The Great Wave or La Manga.



Nicknamed the

"Crazy Drawing",

this 18th century Japanese painter, draftsman and engraver produced many drawings throughout his life, including many landscapes.

He is an avid follower of the Japanese art movement of ukiyo-e, comprising not only original popular and narrative painting, but also and especially Japanese woodblock prints.
