The crowded metro, the blocked roads... If transport users in Île-de-France could hope that the increased use of teleworking since the health crisis would put an end to these galleys, the reality is quite different.
A study by the Paris Region Institute and Transilien SNCF made public on Thursday shows that the development of teleworking has created the phenomenon of "
peak days
".
Public transport use and road traffic are much higher on Tuesdays and Thursdays than on Fridays, the preferred teleworking day for working people in the Ile-de-France region.

Being poorly distributed over the week, teleworking has not brought all the expected benefits to the transport conditions of Ile-de-France residents
", notes the study, which compiles various surveys and data.
In rail transport (RER, trains, metros and trams), although attendance has "
leveled off since the spring of 2022, at 80-85% of its pre-crisis level
", it thus hides strong disparities depending on the days…
