Lower Saxony's Prime Minister Stephan Weil (SPD) has called on the federal government to act quickly to relieve the burden on citizens and business in view of high energy prices.
"We need quick decisions," said Weil after the prime ministers' conference in Hanover on Friday.
In the opinion of the Prime Ministers, the gas price brake must be lifted as early as January 1st.
Hanover - January coming.
According to the federal government, an electricity price brake should also come into force on January 1st.
"We really appreciate that," Weil said.
He expects decisions to be made at the next meeting of the prime ministers on November 2 with Chancellor Olaf Scholz (SPD).
Owners of oil heating systems also need relief, even if the price of oil has not risen as much as the price of gas.
However, many felt overwhelmed by the oil bill, emphasized Weil.
Further relief for other recipients such as bakeries or hospitals is also necessary.
The federal government has promised to launch aid programs for this as of January 1st.
