Six of the seven people arrested on October 12 in Lyon in an investigation into a series of sometimes deadly shootings, in the La Duchère district, were indicted and imprisoned last weekend, the prosecution said.
Six of the suspects were presented to an examining magistrate at the end of their police custody.
After being indicted for "
murder and attempted murder in an organized gang
", they were placed in pre-trial detention, the prosecution told AFP, confirming information from the regional daily
Le Progrès
.
Suspected of preparing "a new acting out"
These seven people were arrested last week by anti-gang police during an operation notably following a shooting that left two dead in mid-June in this sensitive district of Lyon.
Two of the suspects arrested on a scooter were "

", said the prosecution, adding that one of them had exchanged fire with the police without causing any injuries.
Five other people were arrested during the same dragnet.
Two Kalashnikovs, a grenade, several handguns and their ammunition were seized in subsequent searches.
The investigations are continuing under the aegis of the investigating magistrate of the specialized interregional jurisdiction (JIRS) of Lyon.

This district of northeast Lyon has been the scene of a series of violent episodes that have occurred since the spring.
Before the shooting on the night of June 14-15 in which two young men aged 20 and 16 were killed, other shootings had already injured three young people during a wild barbecue a month and a half earlier.
Sources close to the investigation had at the time mentioned settling of accounts against the background of drug trafficking.
In this same neighborhood in April, police officers from the anti-crime brigade (BAC) were targeted by projectiles and, in March, five minors were injured by gunfire at a deal point.
