Lenggries – Skiing in times of the energy crisis: If you want to ski for a day at Brauneck this year, you now pay 48 instead of 42 euros.

Season tickets have also become more expensive.

After two years of the corona pandemic with lockdowns, which also shut down the ski lifts and the now constantly rising energy prices - it was to be expected: This year's tariffs for day and season tickets in the Alpenplus ski area are also significantly more expensive.

The day ski pass for adults at Brauneck costs 48 euros this winter instead of 42 euros.

Tickets for children have also increased by one euro to 23 euros compared to last year.

The season pass, which is valid for the entire Alpenplus area, has also become more expensive – in addition to Brauneck, it also includes the Spitzingsee and Sudelfeld ski areas and the Wallberg toboggan run.

Here the price has risen from 360 to 420 euros in advance.

From November 15th, the annual ticket will cost 480 euros.

“But there is a very cheap family ticket for 116 euros.

Valid for parents and their own children up to the age of 15.

This means that the second child travels almost free of charge,” reports Alpenplus spokeswoman Antonia Asenstorfer.

Despite the energy crisis: "We will not do without snow-making"

When asked whether the ski area operators are taking measures to reduce energy and thus save costs due to the energy crisis, Asenstorfer said: "We will not do without snow-making." So that a safe ski season can be guaranteed for guests.

"However, we control our systems as energy-efficiently as possible." Means: "Only in cold temperatures and, if possible, at night."

According to Asenstorfer, the local ski areas are already well positioned in terms of efficient energy use.

"We have been working as resource-efficiently as possible for years." Energy could also be saved in the area of comfort.

Here specifically by switching off the seat heaters in the modern chairlifts.

Other options: reduce the lighting at the stations and the speed of the lift.

Alpenplus areas in the Oberland: Guests expect an offer and ask beforehand

Whether fewer skiers are expected this year cannot be answered at the moment.

"That would be reading tea leaves," explains Asenstorfer.

"Of course, many guests will have to limit themselves voluntarily or by force in all areas due to the rise in prices," emphasizes the Alpenplus spokeswoman.

The corona pandemic has also clearly shown this.

Nevertheless: "Our guests expect what we offer and ask for it."
