The electricity prices are “no longer affordable”.

That's why Rewe Leitenstorfer is history at the end of the year.

And the Röhrmooser are then almost without shopping facilities.

Röhrmoos – The news spread like wildfire in Röhrmoos and beyond that the long-established Rewe grocery store Leitenstorfer will close – and that by the end of the year.

Director Andrea Leitenstorfer, who also sits on the Röhrmoos municipal council, confirmed this unexpected step to the Dachauer Nachrichten.

Several reasons led to this decision.

"First we had personnel problems during the strongest Corona phase, but I was able to get them under control again.

But what made the decision to give up the business easier for me was the expiring electricity contract,” explains the clerk, pointing out the power-guzzling cooling system.

The enormously increased electricity prices are simply no longer affordable.

In addition, according to her findings, general purchasing behavior had fallen sharply, “and so sales fell sharply over time and there was no other way but to stop,” explains the businesswoman.

Husband Manfred Leitenstorfer runs the larger Rewe market in the Indersdorf industrial park, and nothing will change about that.

With the closure of the shop in Röhrmoos, the post office established in the shop will also no longer exist.

The employees in the post office had been told that the post office would try to find a new location, but the employees did not know any more.

The Rewe beverage market on the other side of Reindlstraße will also no longer exist after December 31 of this year.

For Röhrmoos, the end of the Leitenstorfer era means a major turning point.

The community, which has almost 6,500 inhabitants, lost the only butcher in town several years ago, so that it is not easy for the citizens to fulfill their purchase wishes within the community boundaries.

The Leitenstorfers' grocery store in particular was rooted in Röhrmoos like no other business.

Older Röhrmoosers still remember how attached the Leitenstorfers were to their shop.

The Leitenstorfer family was able to celebrate 100 years of business in 1989.

Grain trade, grocery store and a bakery were the livelihoods.

The modern self-service shop was built in 1986/1987, but soon everything will be in the past.

There is still an Edeka market on the small commercial area on the road to Pasenbach, but for some community residents the distances are getting longer.

According to the plans of the municipal council, a large discounter should be able to set up shop in the planned "Bücherlweiher" residential area, but the form of the development is still being debated, so it may take longer before the doors open here.

The fact that her family could take over this planned market has never been an issue for Andrea Leitenstorfer, as she emphasizes.
