Georgia Maloney was sworn in this morning (Saturday) as Prime Minister of Italy, thus becoming the first woman in the position.
Along with her cabinet team, this is the right-wing government in Italy since World War II.
Maloney, chairman of the Brothers of Italy party, swept to victory in last month's election as part of a coalition that included Kadima Italia, led by former prime minister Silvio Berlusconi, and Matteo Salvini's League.
"I swear to be loyal to the Republic," Maloney, 45, said just before shaking hands with President Sergio Mattarella.

Her government, the 12th of this century, replaces a government of national unity led by Mario Draghi, who previously served as head of the European Central Bank.
It faces a host of challenges, such as the looming recession, high energy costs and presenting a united front on the Ukraine war.
While Maloney has pledged to support Ukraine, Berlusconi has repeatedly expressed a different position, and earlier this week accused Kyiv of responsibility for the war and revealed that he had exchanged gifts and "sweet letters" with his old friend, Russian President Vladimir Putin.
After days of tense talks behind the scenes, Maloney unveiled her team on Friday, giving five ministries each to her junior partners, the League and Cadima Italia, while keeping nine cabinet posts for her party.
