Elisabeth Grupp has been at her husband Wolfgang Grupp's side for 34 years.
It quickly became clear to her that in some respects he did not correspond to the usual cliché.
His unusual marriage proposal came as little surprise to her.

However, her role in the company should not be underestimated: for almost three decades she has been in charge of the 42 Trigema test shops in Germany that were set up on her initiative.

Elisabeth Grupp has never regretted giving up her medical studies for her husband and moving from her homeland of Styria to the Swabian Alb.
"My husband was my mentor," says the mother of two.

“So romantic is different, I would say.” Elisabeth Grupp has a quick-witted answer: “Can you imagine my husband crawling on his knees?
They can't do that either!” Apparently, the then 19-year-old was not surprised that her future husband, then 43, chose a rather unconventional way to propose to her.

According to his wife, Grupp proposed marriage on the day he picked her up from the university in Graz after she had passed her final exam in the pre-hospital.
The couple had known each other for about two years.
"And then we just had to decide: Do I stay in Styria, do I stay in Austria, or do I go to the Swabian Alb with him?" But she clearly knew at the time that she had "found her cover".
"And for 35 years we have been walking hand in hand through life."
