Politician Giorgia Maloney received the mandate to form Italy's next government yesterday (Friday) and will thus be the first woman to hold this position in the country.
"Georgia Maloney received the mandate and presented her list of ministers," said Ugo Zampatti, an official in the president's office.
In total, nine offices were given to "Brothers of Italy" politicians, five to each of the "League" and "Forza Italia" parties, and the "technocrats" were given five additional positions in the cabinet.
The 42-year-old Maloney was elected in the country's general elections held on September 25 under the leadership of her "Brothers of Italy" party, creating an alliance between the country's conservative parties.
This government heralds the rise of an extreme right-wing government for the first time in the post-World War II period in Italy.
The new government will be officially sworn in this morning, after which the government will face confidence votes in both houses of parliament next week.

The Brotherhood of Italy was formed in 2012 but has its roots in the Italian neo-fascist movement that emerged after the death of Mussolini in 1945.
After several incarnations, Maloney left Berlusconi's PdL party to launch "Brothers of Italy" - the first words of the Italian national anthem.
The party has gone from strength to strength since then and is now bigger than the populist party Lega, thanks to its anti-immigration and anti-EU platform.
Italy is a major destination for migrants who cross the Mediterranean Sea by boat.
In 2019, Georgia Maloney gave a speech that came to define her: "I'm a woman, I'm a mother, I'm Italian, I'm a Christian, and you can't take that away from me," she said.
Now, three years later, she can add another degree.
