Neuried-Professor Dr.
Frank Walthes from Neuried has received one of the highest awards in Bavaria: Prime Minister Dr.
Markus Söder awarded the Bavarian Order of Merit to the chairman of the board of directors of Versicherungskammer Bayern and honorary professor at the University of the Federal Armed Forces.
The Bavarian Order of Merit is the second highest order in the Free State of Bavaria after the Bavarian Maximilian Order for Science and Art.

Frank Walthes is the CEO of Versicherungskammer Bayern.
After stints at the Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg and at Allianz, he has now headed this Bavarian institution for around ten years.
He is also involved in industry associations and, as Chairman of the Bavarian State Board of Trustees of the Donors' Association for German Science, promotes education and innovation.
He also holds an honorary professorship for financial services at the University of the Federal Armed Forces in Munich.
Professor Walthes is one of those people who have already received this high award during their active professional life.
Since it was founded, the Bavarian Order of Merit has been awarded to 5,717 people, including 811 women.
According to the law, the number of living religious is limited to 2,000 people.
After the award on July 8, 2021, there were 1,536.
