BMW driver drives over red – and crashes into an ambulance that was traveling with blue lights

An accident has occurred in Grosshadern.
An ambulance was on its way to an emergency when the collision occurred.
Munich – There was an accident in the Großhadern district of Munich on Saturday, October 22nd.
According to the police, an ambulance and a BMW were involved.
The two cars collided at an intersection.

According to the police press release, the accident happened around 3:15 p.m.
A 42-year-old, who belonged to the Munich professional fire brigade, was driving his vehicle to an operation.
The siren and blue lights were switched on to alert other road users to the emergency doctor.
The emergency doctor drove along Sauerbruchstraße and wanted to cross the intersection of Würmtalstraße – when it was green – to continue on Waldwiesenstraße.
But that didn't happen, because a 70-year-old BMW driver who lives in the district of Munich ignored the red traffic light that applied to him and the two vehicles collided.

Fortunately, no one was injured in the collision.
However, there was significant damage to both vehicles, police said.
And: neither of the two cars was able to continue after the accident, which is much more than just annoying, especially for the emergency doctor.
The police also write: "The emergency doctor crew could no longer perform their originally assigned mission." Investigations were taken up by the traffic police, it is said in conclusion.
Facebook was also angry about the accident.
A frustrated user wrote about the police report, which is always shared on the social network: "Red only seems to be a non-binding suggestion to stop".
