Budget: why the motions of censure will not be adopted

The script was written in advance and everything will go exactly as planned.

After the triggering twice of Article 49-3 of the Constitution by Elisabeth Borne to have the budget and the Social Security financing bill adopted, three motions of censure were tabled: two by the alliance of left Nupes and one by the RN If one of them is voted by the absolute majority of parliamentarians, ie 289 deputies, the government will have to resign.

But the manoeuvre, which is above all a good way for parliamentarians to let the government and public opinion know of their dissatisfaction, only very rarely succeeds.

In the present case, she has - except for a major reversal of the situation - absolutely no chance of achieving her goal.

Already, because the two depositaries of the motions in question, the RN and the Nupes, have very clearly indicated that they will not vote for their respective motions.
