The city has chosen to close certain places and bring the children together to lower the bills. The Bois de leisure center

With its bucolic setting, the Bois de Cergy leisure center almost made you want to spend your holidays in the agglomeration.

The children will however have to do without it.

The site is the first to have to close its doors due to energy sobriety.

The city is now starting to implement numerous measures to try to absorb the additional cost of 2.5 million euros in energy expenditure expected for 2023. And among these solutions is the consolidation of certain leisure facilities during school holidays.

During the All Saints holidays, seven out of eight leisure centers will continue to operate.

Children who usually go to the Bois de Cergy are redirected to Touleuses.

And it's no coincidence: this ALSH (leisure reception without accommodation, according to the official name) is reputed to be very poorly insulated.

It is even “one of the most energy-intensive buildings in the whole city”, we are told at the town hall.

“This is how parents from Cergys just learned that they were putting their children in a building so dilapidated that it has become unheatable!

“, chokes the opposition municipal councilor (LR) Alexandre Pueyo, hoping that “this closure is not final”.

The elected official denounces a situation that is not new: “it has been more than 10 years since the renovation of the Bois de Cergy leisure center was promised without anything ever having been done.

»

In the town hall, however, the response is categorical: “€5 million are already included for this in the multi-year investment plan, a new project is under study.

The leisure center should therefore be reborn.

However, it will remain closed during the entire school holidays of this year 2022/2023.

Because strong opening restrictions are planned until the end of August.

The most constrained time will be that of the Christmas holidays: only two leisure receptions will operate, that of Point du Jour and Parc/Justice.
