Emmanuel Macron will meet the new Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni on Sunday evening October 23 in Rome, the Élysée announced.
The French head of state is the first foreign leader to meet the new president of the Italian council, who took office on Sunday.
This meeting must take place in the center of the Italian capital and not in an official palace.
Emmanuel Macron arrived in Rome on Sunday afternoon for a peace summit organized by the Italian community of Sant'Egidio.
He will be received Monday morning by Pope Francis for a private audience at the Vatican, the third between the two men since the election of Emmanuel Macron in 2017.
