Within the activities of the fifth season of the Syrian Art Days, which is held by the Ministry of Culture, under the slogan (Seventy Years of Modernity), the names of the winners of the prizes for the second poster design competition were announced this evening, at Al-Assad National Library in Damascus.

The first place in the competition was won by Raneem Al-Maidani, the second place by Jodi Al-Ghadban, and the third place by Rama Bukhari, while three encouragement prizes were presented, consisting of certificates of appreciation to three designers: Maha Homsi, Elissar Kashout and Nagham Azzouz, in addition to an appreciation award presented by the Minister of Culture, Dr. , by the participant, Muhammad Al-Moallem, a graduate of the Faculty of Fine Arts, about his visual presentation entitled (Flicker).

Al-Assad Library hosted an exhibition of posters of 36 male and female designers participating in the competition, and they are all directed towards paintings and creative memories of the plastic artist Fateh Al-Modarres.

In a statement to reporters, the Minister of Culture explained that the exhibition was an initiative of the professors of the Faculty of Fine Arts concerned with this type of arts and designs, and their desire to open new horizons for their students, pointing out that this modern art coincides with the title of the exhibition, which is heading towards modernity by introducing young students Damascus University, with their different levels of art, in new expressive forms of modern plastic art, and presenting distinct creative visions.

In turn, the director of the Directorate of Fine Arts, the plastic artist Wassim Abdel Hamid, explained that the title of the exhibition (Seventy Years of Modernity), was inspired by the passage of seventy years, when the painting of the master Fateh Al-Modarres (Kafr Jannah) won the first prize in the third annual exhibition in 1952, to be considered after The beginning of the history of modernity in Syrian plastic art.

While the member of the organizing committee of the competition, Dr. Abdel Nasser Wannous, indicated that the members of the committee focused in this competition on the art of graphics and the poster for the second year in a row to be a starting point for modernity and development.

The student, Muhammad Al-Moallem, explained that his project (Flicker) embodies the art of light installation, which is one of the forms of plastic art using simple materials of cardboard and wood, and the merging of light and shadows, indicating that the project talks about the search for oneself through an expressive character, searching for light and eventually finding That real light is emanating from within it.
