The Damascus Countryside Electricity Company, in coordination with the local council in the city of Al-Hajar Al-Aswad, has completed the installation of the first electrical transmission center in Al-Thawra neighborhood, with a capacity of one thousand (kVA), and the rehabilitation of the health center in the city has begun.
The head of the local council, Khaled Khamis, said in a statement to SANA reporter: The extension of the medium line has been completed, starting from the “Medan 2 station in the Hosh Blas area, and work is underway to install the low line in the Al-Thawra neighborhood, and more than one electrical transmission center will be installed to feed it.” The rest of the neighborhoods are in the Black Stone.
Khamis indicated that the rehabilitation of the sewage network in the Tishreen neighborhood was started today by the First Aid Organization, while the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate is rehabilitating the health center, which is expected to be ready within two weeks at most, noting that there is a temporary clinic affiliated to the Health Directorate in the city of Kenitra fully equipped.
Khamis confirmed that studies and estimated statements have been completed to rehabilitate the potable water network in Tishreen and Al-Thawra neighborhoods, and one of the 500-cubic-meter concrete tanks in preparation for the start of it by the United Nations Development Program (UNDP), revealing that the work of removing rubble is continuing in the area. There is a need to sign additional contracts to complete the removal of the large debris accumulated or resulting from the rehabilitation of homes.
Khamis added: The number of families currently residing in Al-Hajar Al-Aswad is 133, and there are more than one family working on preparing their homes, explaining that a service has been allocated to work between Al-Hajar Al-Aswad and Nahr Aisha.
The Directorate of Education in the countryside of Damascus completed the restoration of the first school in Al-Hajar Al-Aswad in cooperation with the International First Aid Organization, and there are seven other schools that will be rehabilitated successively.
