The main accused of the murder of a young man shot dead for a
"bad look"
in Hérouville-Saint-Clair (Calvados) in 2019, was sentenced Monday evening October 24 by the Assize Court of minors to 20 years' imprisonment.
Théo Perrelle, 18, lost his life on the night of May 17 to 18, 2019 after being hit in the chest by a shotgun blast, while surrounded by friends.
Four young people had appeared and one of them had opened fire, apparently following a futile altercation a little earlier between Theo and the main defendant, Sid Ahmed Hattabi, 23 years old.
Judged for murder, the latter was sentenced to 20 years' imprisonment in accordance with the requisitions, premeditation not having been retained.
Two other defendants were sentenced to three years in prison for intentional violence and placed under electronic bracelets.
The fourth accused, a minor at the time, was acquitted.
"We have the feeling that three of the four defendants are doing very well for having nevertheless participated in a scene of violence which led to the death of a young man"
, lamented Me Aline Lebret, lawyer for the victim's mother. who filed a civil action.
Moving versions
Throughout the trial, two of the defendants tried to blame each other for the fatal shooting, while witnesses named only one shooter.
But between omerta, intimidation and moving versions, a week of trial will not have made it possible to really shed light on what happened on the night of the tragedy.
After 11 p.m. that evening, Théo and Sid Ahmed Hattabi had an altercation concerning
"a bad look"
at Place de l'Europe in Hérouville-Saint-Clair.
Nearly an hour later, the four accused, who had arrived together by car in the district, appeared under a porch where a group made up of Theo and a few friends had gathered, in the Grande-Delle district.
Sid Ahmed Hattabi fires a shot into the air, blows are delivered, including a cannon shot to Theo's head, who falls to the ground and, as he tries to get up, is hit by a gunshot. rifle from which he died the next day in hospital.
