NRW police shoot suspected knife attacker

In a small town near Cologne, the police shot dead a man suspected to be armed with a knife in the middle of a residential area.
The public prosecutor's office in Bonn is investigating.
Cologne/Bonn – There was another deadly police operation in North Rhine-Westphalia.

on Monday evening (October 24), an officer shot a suspected knife attacker on the street in the afternoon in the small town of Zülpich near Cologne.

Accordingly, a 31-year-old man was shot by a police officer with his service weapon in a residential area.
According to the police, a witness called the officers for help after the man allegedly tried to force his way into his parents' house.
A short time later, two patrol cars arrived on site.
According to the police, the man who was killed pulled out a knife and attacked the officers.

The man died at the scene of the crime.
The authorities did not say exactly where he was hit by the shot.
For reasons of neutrality, colleagues and the public prosecutor's office from neighboring Bonn took over the investigation.

Just last week, a man died after a police operation in Dortmund.
He died on Wednesday night (October 19) after using a so-called Taser, an electric shock gun.
Police in NRW: Third dead after use within three months
Dortmund officials had been called to the Dorstfeld district because of a suspected rioter.
The deceased is said to have resisted and collapsed after the Taser was used.
After attempts at resuscitation, the 44-year-old man was found dead in the hospital.
According to the autopsy, the man had a serious heart condition and was also under the influence of alcohol, the Recklinghausen police and the Dortmund public prosecutor later announced.

It was the second deadly police operation in Dortmund within three months.
On August 8, a 16-year-old refugee from Senegal was shot dead by a police officer in Dortmund with five shots from a submachine gun.
Now there was a deadly police operation near Cologne.
