The tax-free inflation premium is intended to relieve employees.
But which companies actually pay the bonus?
An overview.
Berlin – According to the will of the federal government, the inflation premium is intended to give workers breathing space in the midst of the energy crisis.
This time, the employer is supposed to pay for the extra money.
After every citizen subject to income tax received an energy flat rate of 300 euros from the state in September, companies are now to receive an inflation premium.
Until December 31, 2024, companies may pay their employees a bonus of 3,000 euros tax- and duty-free.
Inflation premium: Some companies are still waiting for collective bargaining rounds
However, when the federal government announced this bonus payout option, enthusiasm was limited.
Hardly anyone expected companies to pay out the money.
But now things are picking up speed.
In recent weeks, more and more companies have announced that they want to pay out the inflation premium.
While some companies, such as the household appliance manufacturer Miele or the chainsaw manufacturer Stihl, still want to wait for the collective bargaining rounds, other companies are getting serious.
For example, the employees of the Sixt
car rental company should
receive the inflation bonus: "We pay every employee worldwide a special bonus of
1,700 euros
as inflation compensation until the end of the year," said co-CEO Alexander Sixt of the
Handelsblatt
.
Inflation bonus: 3000 euros for Targobank employees
The employees of the fan manufacturer
EBM-Papst
also have reason to be happy.
Each of the 6,000 employees receives an
inflation premium of
500 euros .
In the
chemical-pharmaceutical industry
, the collective bargaining talks have already ended.
After that, employees are to receive an inflation bonus of
3,000 euros
.
The
Targobank
donated the premium from the relief package.
The HR department head, Alexander Bohrer, reports on LinkedIn that the employees will receive
3,000 euros
.
The money should be paid in two equal parts.
Once in December 2022 and once in 2023. Apprentices and dual students receive twice 1000 euros, i.e. a total of 2000 euros bonus.
"We would like to send a signal and at the same time express our appreciation and planability for our workforce - in these uncertain times," writes Bohr in his announcement.

Porsche and VW give employees an extra payment
There are also
3000 euros
for the employees of the car manufacturer
Porsche
.
The money should come to the employees' accounts with the November salary, as a works council spokeswoman said.
However, the amount will be adjusted depending on the length of service and any part-time work.
The employees probably owe the generous payment to the successful IPO at the end of September.
It had already become known that the parent company
VW
wanted to pay its employees a bonus of
2,000 euros
in the company tariff and in Saxony .
It is not known whether this is paid out as an inflation premium or whether the one-off payment is made for other reasons.
The
Rossmann
drugstore chain and the shoe manufacturer
Meindl are also planning to pay out
an inflation premium.
However, the two companies have not yet clarified how high this should be.
