A film about the chairman of the opposition, Binyamin Netanyahu (Walla system!)

The Netanyahu trial is undoubtedly one of the most shocking events in the history of the State of Israel.

An event that cuts across Israeli society.

Even today, years after the opening of the investigations against the former prime minister, the people are divided on the question of why and how it was decided, as a precedent, to prosecute a sitting prime minister, on the charge of accepting a bribe in the form of media coverage, and these considerations guided the decision makers.

This is why Vala is bringing the new documentary - "The Trial" to air.

The film chooses to present central claims in the 4000 case and tries to shed light on the systems that often work in the dark.

The film is the product of an investigation by the filmmakers who spoke with judges, former senior prosecutors, lawyers, jurists and first-class media persons who are familiar with the ins and outs of the case and what goes on behind the scenes.

The creators of the film are the director Gilad (Gili) Goldschmidt, who has 25 years of experience in the field, and Yoad Ben Yosef, a producer and screenwriter, who has been working in the field of film and television for over 30 years.

Behind them is also Ofir Falk, a political scientist and Likud activist.

It is important to emphasize: the filmmakers do not hide their political position.

By the way, just as other senior journalists, on the left, do not hide.

It is clear that even true facts always depend on context, dosage and framing.

The filmmakers bring "their version" of things.

We trust the creators and especially the viewers who will be able to watch it critically while relying on the facts that have been published so far on the subject.

One of the interviewees in the film is a former senior figure who was the head of one of the departments in the prosecutor's office and who attacks the prosecutor's office and the attorney general regarding their handling of the Netanyahu cases in an unprecedented manner.

She refers to the prosecution's request to amend the indictment that was filed without an orderly list of witnesses, when according to her the reason for this was the desire to file the indictment that Prime Minister Netanyahu is in the United States on the occasion of the disclosure of the "Plan of the Century" together with President Trump - "It is impossible that an indictment that was filed against a prime minister will be corrected and revised after it has been submitted, and it has been revised and revised because it was done casually in a careless manner.

Because the goal was to submit it at a time when Benjamin Netanyahu was in the US, and then the bomb had to be dropped here."

Another former senior official at the prosecutor's office, Rachel Wezner, places a big question mark on the 3 ongoing cases and the decision to file charges against Netanyahu - "The collection of these three cases turns on some sort of red light for us, because we don't see anything criminal here, we don't see anything here that justifies the The enormous activity surrounding these cases. As I say, it is unbelievable and will not be funded. I mean, we know the sums that were spent, we know the actions that were taken."

On the other hand, attorney Joey Ash, who headed the criminal department at the prosecutor's office that recommended filing the indictment against Netanyahu, sees things completely differently - "Netanyahu, in my opinion, is a person who has done a lot of very significant things for the State of Israel.

He has committed crimes in my opinion."

Ash also refers to the interrogation exercise that was done for state witness Nir Hefetz - "I don't know what happened.

Let's assume that what they claim happened happened what they claim happened.

This is a very serious incident, there are no such things.

To put such pressure on an interrogated person is shocking.

The dean of the Faculty of Law at the Academic Caria Ono comes to a very clear conclusion - "The courts, if they succeed in detaching themselves from the top political game - I don't see the slightest chance of a conviction."
