A source in the UN Security Council revealed that Russia called the council to convene today to inform it of information confirming Kyiv's readiness to provoke by using a "dirty bomb" and accusing Russia of doing so.
TASS news agency quoted the source as saying that this request aims to inform the council "of information confirming Kyiv's readiness to provoke the use of a dirty bomb in the areas still under its control, and to accuse Russia of this crime in order to incite international and Russian public opinion against the Russian authority."
The source indicated that according to the procedures of the Security Council, after discussing the main topic, members may propose discussing a number of additional issues as a general rule, as such discussions are usually held in closed sessions.
For his part, Russia's representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzia, announced in a letter to United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres that Russia would consider Kyiv's use of a dirty bomb a "nuclear terrorist act", if it did so.
Nebenzia said: Russia calls on Western countries to influence the regime in Kyiv to abandon its plans to provoke the use of a dirty bomb, noting that "these plans will have serious consequences, and will lead to great losses among civilians."
Nebenzia stressed that Moscow never planned to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine and said: Against the background of the anti-Russian propaganda campaign waged by Western countries, we would like to stress that the Russian Federation did not and does not intend to use nuclear weapons in Ukraine, and the Russian leadership and the Ministry of Defense have never talked about The possibility of using such weapons in Ukraine.”
