The popular messaging app WhatsApp has stopped working for many users around the world, with users in India, the United Kingdom, South Africa and Asia reporting problems sending and receiving texts and videos.

"We are aware that some people are having problems sending messages and we are working to restore WhatsApp for everyone as quickly as possible," said a spokesperson for WhatsApp's parent company, Meta Platforms.
According to Downdetector, thousands of users in countries including India, the UK and Singapore had reported an outage on Tuesday.
Downdetector tracks outages by collecting status reports from various sources, including bugs submitted by users on its platform.
