He was due for surgery on Wednesday morning.
The two attackers have not been arrested or identified, and are actively sought.
He took office in 2020, when the new communist majority led by Abdel Saïdi was installed.
To show their support, OPH employees gathered this Wednesday morning in front of the office.
After what looks like a settling of accounts, the board of directors, the management and the staff call, in their press release, "the judicial authorities to shed all the light on this heinous aggression".
"This act of great cowardice will not make us give in," said Mohamed Aïssani, president of the OPH.
