Deputy Chairman of the Security Affairs Committee of the Russian State Duma, Anatoly Viburni, stressed that the deployment of NATO bases in Finland is a clear violation of international norms and should be responded to.
In a statement to RIA Novosti today, Vibori said: "NATO's anti-Russian activity near the borders affects the global security system, and violates the basic agreement of Russia and NATO signed in 1997, which includes restrictions on the deployment of NATO forces in Eastern and Central Europe by creating additional tensions and destabilization in the world." “.
Vibori explained that his country will respond appropriately to all aggressive steps by the alliance by strengthening its military capabilities in the Baltic region.
Viburi's statement came in response to a Finnish media report that the draft law on Finland's accession to NATO does not include any restrictions on the deployment of military bases in the country, as well as on the presence of forces from NATO countries or the introduction of nuclear weapons into its territory.
