A man from Miami, in southern Florida, burned about 40 pairs of Kanye West brand shoes, worth about $15,000, in protest at recent anti-Semitic and racist statements by the American rapper, such as US media reported on Wednesday.

Daniel Schiff joined the wave of rejection that Kanye West's comments have provoked with the burning of footwear from the Yeezy brand, owned by the rapper, which he acquired in recent years, as he recorded in videos he posted on his social networks .

The man pointed out that the controversial statements by West, who changed his official name to Ye, can "

cause damage, injury or even death."

As Schiff told the CNN news network, he still has about $25,000 worth of Yeezy brand shoes, which he will auction off and donate the money he earns to organizations that combat racism and anti-Semitism.

West has seen several brands and large companies turn their backs on him after posting a series of anti-Semitic messages on social media this month.

Previously, Kanye West appeared at a parade in Paris wearing the slogan "White Lives Matter" ("White lives matter"), often used by white supremacists in response to the anti-racism movement "Black Lives Matter".

on Tuesday were casual clothing retailer Gap and athletic shoe retailer Foot Locker, which said they were stopping selling Yeezy-branded products.
