For a long time it was unclear what should happen to the Grünwalder Einkehr area.

The site-defining ensemble threatened to disappear completely.

The architects have now presented a design that revives the impression of the historic Schwaige.

Grünwald

– For many hundreds of years, the Grünwalder Einkehr has been a distinctive landmark.

To keep it that way, the community got behind it and convinced the Bavarian State Office for Monument Protection of the special historical quality of the buildings.

The ensemble protection imposed for the Grünwalder Einkehr including the chapel guarantees that the northern entrance to the town will retain its appearance in the long term.

The architectural office Brückner goes even further and approaches the architectural language of the former Schwaige.

The planners now presented the overall structure on the approximately 3000 square meter area to the Grünwalder municipal council - to the great delight of all elected officials in the Hubertus-Lindner-Saal.

They voted for the project-related development plan.

Alexander Steininger (CSU): "A stroke of luck at this point.

The planning couldn't have been better."

Design refers to the original ensemble and brings it creatively into the present

Many reports are available: on slope statics, emissions, traffic and species protection.

The architecturally mature result emerges behind the mountain of paper.

The new owners have solved the task of maintaining the character of the ensemble.

The design refers to the original ensemble and brings it creatively into the present.

The main building, stable and kitchen building, a striking archway and the Salettl once stood there.

You get this picture on old postcards of the well-known excursion destination, today most of it is lost.

However, the planners want to resurrect this impression of the Schwaige and create a new ensemble from the historical stock including new buildings.

In cooperation with the former city homestead curator Gert Goergens, a design language was developed

Construction as in the Alter Hof in Munich

The classic perforated facade is retained, with window shutters and trellises not only in the existing building but also in the new building.

The owners had to do without dormers and skylights, which is why a very discreet roof lighting is used on the tiled roof - by means of glazing behind tiles.

The construction can also be seen in the Alter Hof in Munich.

Dormers with planted wooden pergolas are permitted on the two new buildings on the Isar slope, because they are not visible from the street.

The material bridges the gap between urban life and rural character.

According to the planner, this creates a beautiful inner courtyard with a fountain, worthy of the historical character.

In the far north, the owners have dropped the idea of building a restaurant.

Later use has not yet been determined

All factions like the fact that the project will look more like the historical model than the existing building.

Oliver Schmidt (PBG): “This shows how a construction project can be made a success.

We experienced a completely different presentation right from the start.” He thinks it's nice that the avenue-like green area remains on the north side.

Ingrid Reinhart (Greens) is most pleased that the main building will be preserved, because the sustainable use of building materials is particularly important in times of climate change.

The gray energy in the building is preserved.

The use for the ensemble has not yet been determined in detail.

It is already clear that a mix of residential and commercial will establish itself.

The operator plans to create office and retail space.

The Grünwalder Einkehr will no longer be an inn in the future and after the expected completion in 2024 and 2025, but will reflect the historical character in the form.
