A mentally confused Erdinger gave the federal police a larger operation on Wednesday evening.
Disruptions occurred in the S-Bahn service.
Finally, the 61-year-old was found and taken back to his apartment.
Erding/Hohenbrunn - Wolfgang Hauner, spokesman for the Federal Police in Munich, reports that witnesses dialed the emergency call after noticing an obviously disoriented man in the platform area of the S 7 route between Hohenbrunn and Wächterhof (Munich district).
Several federal police patrols went on the search.
In addition, a helicopter from the Oberschleißheim Federal Police Air Squadron rose, flew over the section in question and used a thermal imaging camera.
The crew managed to locate the man near the Wächterhof S-Bahn station.
He was lying next to the track.
A patrol picked up the 61-year-old.
In fact, he was disoriented and could not tell the officials how he got from Erding to the south-east of Munich.
He also makes confused statements, reports Hauner.
Since the man did not need medical care and was in good condition, at least from the outside, the police drove him to his apartment in Erding.
For the duration of the operation, the S-Bahn ran on sight in the section between Hohenbrunn and Wächterhof.
"There were only minor restrictions here," Hauner sums up.
