France must get out of “
whatever the cost
”, reminded the Minister of the Budget, Gabriel Attal, at the microphone of France Info this morning.
This means that motorists will have to accept the end of the fuel price boost.
However, the government intends to “
continue to help the French
”.
As announced by the President of the Republic last night on France 2, a system solely targeted at "
big rollers
" will take over from January 1, 2023.
For the moment, the Budget Minister did not want to give details of this aid.
However, it should be close to the first version, which the government had prepared this summer before favoring the option of a rebate for everyone.
To benefit from it, candidates must meet three criteria recalled Gabriel Attal: work, have a car, and income not exceeding a certain threshold.
In total, “
11 million households
could take advantage of it, he warned.
To do this, candidates will have to make a request on a web page and give their gray card number and work identifiers.
This site had already been created this summer at the time of the first targeted aid project, according to the minister.
The details are not yet defined, nor is the cost of the measure.
It will be much lower than the current fuel boost, reminds Gabriel Attal.
For the moment, a credit of 1.5 billion euros has been included in the 2023 budget.

The idea of extending the boost beyond January 1 was already in the drawers.
“
If prices were to soar, we have planned in 2023 to help our compatriots who take their car to go to work, with targeted aid
,” Bruno Le Maire declared on Monday October 17.
Some details had been communicated in July: it would concern employees, apprentices, public and self-employed agents, and would be paid only to the most modest.
It would amount to 100 or 200 euros depending on the income of the people.
At the time, the government planned to match it with a bonus for high rollers, of 50 or 100 euros.
