Damascus-SANA

With the aim of achieving community immunity and maintaining the stability of the epidemiological situation, the Ministry of Health will launch next Sunday the intensive national campaign for vaccination against the Corona virus in various governorates, and it will continue until the 3rd of next month.

In a statement to SANA reporter, Dr. Razan Al-Tarabishi, director of primary health care in the ministry, indicated that the campaign is the third this year, and targets people over 18 years by going directly to hospitals and centers designated for the campaign, along with a number of mobile teams to ensure access to the largest number of people.

According to Dr. Al-Tarabishi, 3,841 health workers, distributed among 21 hospitals, 852 health centers and 368 mobile teams, will participate in the campaign, stressing that the ministry has completed all technical and logistical preparations for the launch of the campaign by securing its supplies and providing mobile teams with thermostats to ensure that vaccines are kept safely.

Dr. Al-Tarabishi explained that the decision to exempt all people coming to Syria through land, sea and air border crossings from the “PCR” test or an international vaccine certificate for Covid 19 does not mean laxity in applying health measures to prevent infection and achieve community immunity.

Al-Tarabishi stressed that the vaccine is the only solution to maintain the stability of the epidemiological situation and eliminate the pandemic, explaining that it is safe, effective and free and allows, according to the recent recommendations of the World Health Organization, to be given to pregnant or breastfeeding women, while contraindications to giving are limited to allergy to a previous vaccine dose or current infection with the virus.
