They want to encourage people to save energy: Numerous energy suppliers lure them with bonuses.

Save energy and then get 50 or 100 euros.

That's how it's done.

Nuremberg/Munich – The energy crisis and the consequences of the Ukraine war are driving up prices in many sectors.

The federal government is trying to combat this with relief packages, an energy flat rate and electricity and gas price brakes.

Nevertheless, saving energy this winter seems to be the top priority.

Cities and the state government have already decided on numerous measures, and companies in Bavaria are also cutting back on electricity and heating energy.

In order to give the average consumer an incentive to save, some energy suppliers in Bavaria offer bonuses.

Citizens can get up to 100 euros for free - if they manage to reduce their energy consumption.

“Our premium for energy savers” is how the Franconian energy supplier advertises its campaign.

In order to create an incentive for economical households in Nuremberg and the region, customers who reduce their consumption of natural gas and district heating by at least ten percent in the coming months will receive a credit of 50 euros or a VGN bonus.

In order to be able to take part in the campaign, however, interested parties must first register online.

Another condition is that you have had a contract with a “direct billing relationship with N‑ERGIE” since at least March 1, 2021.

Customers who only concluded a contract later cannot participate.

Stadtwerke München even rewards frugal customers with a €100 bonus

There is a very similar campaign at Stadtwerke München.

Anyone who saves energy in the coming winter can receive certain bonuses.

Online registration is also required here.

Customers must also have a contract with SWM Versorgungs GmbH from at least October 1, 2020.

  • If you save more than ten percent, you will receive a bonus of 50 euros.

If you save at least 20 percent, you will receive a bonus of 100 euros.

In addition, the public utilities also offer a variant for everyone who has already saved a lot of energy.

"This variant is ideal for particularly frugal participants who basically consume very little (electricity or natural gas) so that further energy savings would be unrealistic," says the SWM website.

Values from October 2021 to September 2022 are compared.

If you are below certain consumption values, you also receive 50 euros.
