Hosted by the National Center for Visual Arts in Damascus, the classical musical evening, which was revived by the Syrian National Symphony Orchestra, led by Maestro Misak Baghboudrian, in cooperation with Dar Al-Assad for Culture and Arts, carried the title “Introductions”, in which masterpieces of international operatic works were played.

Musical openings or intros are musical pieces that pave the way for operatic lyrical works, and aim to prepare the audience and draw their attention to the theatrical lyrical show, so that some authors later compose openings as independent musical pieces that are not related to an operatic lyrical work, but they always carried the dramatic plot that presents most of the times, in short, events or moments. A task is present in the operatic work or in the dramatic thought of the composer.

In the evening of “Openings,” the Syrian Symphony presented some openings by major international composers belonging to different eras, including Mozart, Beethoven, Rossini, Donizetti, von Feier, Verdi and Strauss.

The evening's program, which included all the love stories, began with the opening of the Figaro opera "The Marriage of Figaro" and the opening of the opera "Don Giovanni" by Mozart.

The symphony chose Beethoven to present the opening of Egmont, while Rossini played the openings of the opera “Mr. Proschino” and the opera The Barber of Seville.

For the composer Donizetti the troupe performed the opening for the opera “Lucía of La Mermo”, and for Carl Maria von Feer for the opening act “Civet Opera”.

At the end of the evening, the opening for Verdi's opera La Traviata was presented, and the opening for the opera The Bat by Johann Strauss, Jr.

And in a statement to Sana Bin, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Center for Visual Arts

Dr. Ghiath Al-Akhras said that the center has several activities with the opera and with various orchestras, and that today’s evening marks the opening of a season characterized by its strength with the aim of bringing joy to the largest possible segment of the audience, especially that it was decided to hold this evening and the upcoming evenings free of charge so that as much as possible can

Those interested in attending it aim to break the deadlock in the difficult circumstances we are living in as a result of the repercussions of the terrorist war on Syria.

Dr. Akhras pointed out that art is what gives life and necessitates us to face difficulties by fighting them with the tools we possess, calling on workers in the cultural field to establish beautiful activities in all fields of music, plastic art, theater and others.

In turn, Maestro Baghboudrian explained that the National Center had a special activity before the Corona pandemic as a result of the privacy of the place, which forced the establishment of different programs where the musicians presented innovative ideas, including the “East and West” project, pointing out that the “opening” evening is a new step with a season and new ideas presented On the National Center Theatre.

Regarding the evening, Maestro Baghboudarian indicated that the musical works were written by music composers in preparation for the dramatic musical work, whether it was operatic or ballet, and sometimes it was a theatrical work, after which the works turned to be written without occasion, indicating that today’s evening it was chosen to present famous and unpopular openings in order to introduce the audience on these genres and create an enthusiastic case through the techniques and dazzle of these works.
