The murder of the boy Yoel Lahnghel in Kiryat Shmona:
This week, the police opened an investigation against a police officer who is suspected of obstructing proceedings and breach of trust in the case of the murder of the late 18-year-old Lahnghel.
The suspicion is that the police officer tried to carry out actions to disrupt an investigation related to a central suspect in the murder.
At the end of his investigation, he was released to house arrest and removed from all police stations.
Last week it was decided that the commander of the Kiryat Shmona police station, Sen. Nir Sashon, would be removed from his position, following the recommendation of an investigating officer. It was also decided that another officer would be removed from his position, and two officers would receive a command comment. During the inspection, it became clear that the procedures at the police station in the city were not clear , and the police officers who came to deal with the incident - left the scene and did not act as required.
Yoel Lehanghel, who immigrated from India about a year ago, was stabbed to death in early October at a birthday party in Kiryat Shmona.
The investigation of the murder reveals that Lahnghel and his friend were sitting in the IDF square, together with a young woman, drinking alcohol. When a group of drunken boys left a nearby place where they were celebrating a birthday, an argument developed between them for a reason that has not yet been clarified, during which violence began.
The group of boys left the place and returned with increased forces, so intense violence developed during which Yoel Lehanghel was stabbed.
The boy was seriously injured by the stabbing and was taken to Ziv Hospital in Safed, where he died of his injuries.
The fight, at the end of which Heghal was stabbed to death, was recorded on the security cameras.
