Accident at El Alamein battle celebrations, severe 2 para

Two paratroopers who jumped in during the celebrations for the 80th anniversary of the battle of El Alamein underway in Abbiategrasso (Milan) ended up outside the intended field of arrival and landed in the middle of the houses.

Both conscious, when the ambulances arrived they were transported in red code to the hospital.

There were ten paratroopers who jumped into two groups but two of them, instead of landing on the planned field, ended up in the middle of the houses for reasons yet to be ascertained.

The celebration was organized by the Municipality of Abbiategrasso, the Bersaglieri association, those of the Tankmen and the Paratroopers on the field of the oratory of San Pietro to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the battle of El Alamein, causing not a few protests by some associations, starting from the Anpi.

The program of the day included a parade of historic motorcycles, a martial arts exhibition and a parachute jump in the morning, while in the afternoon there was a concert of the Bersaglieri fanfare and a conference on the theme "Passion and glory in El Alamein ".

The two paratroopers who missed the landing field planned for the 80th anniversary of El Alamein in Abbiategrasso (Milan) managed to land in the courtyards of two houses, in via Legnano and in via Crivellino.

One of the two managed to take the slide of an underground garage of an apartment building while the other finished his race against the plants present in the courtyard of another house, both causing fractures even if they should not be life threatening. .

They were transported to the hospital in Milan, one by helicopter, while the other in an Ada ambulance.
