The archaeological and heritage sites in Syria formed the source of inspiration for the young Farouk Sais, to be the core of an interactive game directed to children, designed with easy-to-use techniques, and in a way that helps develop their mental and intellectual abilities, and stimulates their skills to focus and think about Syria's distinctive sites.

The game, which consists of numbered cardboard plates for installation according to a scheme attached to it, contains designs that bear many names of Syrian heritage sites, including the (Al-Hosn) game, where the child builds the archaeological site using techniques (cutting, folding and gluing) step by step, to eventually form an integrated model of the site.

In a statement to Sana Ben-Sais, the goal of the game is to motivate the child to think about how engineers work (the art of architecture and construction), and to help him develop his thinking and mental simulation of what he touches in his hands.

Sais, a graduate of the Technical Institute of Antiquities and Museums in Damascus, stated that during his years of work and his dispatch to Japan by his institution, and his following of many courses and international participations in the field of archeology, in addition to his work in the Citadel of the Fort and his knowledge of all its details, all of this motivated him to design a game Archaeological sites contribute to the protection of the Syrian cultural heritage and stock, and make information about it popular with children and students.

In designing the game, Sais relied on the smallest details of the archaeological sites, stressing that this game for him is a cultural, entertainment and educational project for children and students, noting that he saw a demand by some foreign visitors to buy the game, especially from heritage lovers, pointing out that the game is available in the National Museum and Dar Publishing manhals in Damascus and the castle of the fortress in Homs.

According to Sais, work is currently underway to publish this game and make it available in archaeological sites in the governorates to facilitate access, and work will be done to include all Syrian heritage and cultural sites.

Sais is scheduled to participate through this game in the Sharjah International Book Fair, followed by a participation in the Kuwait Book Fair, and at the beginning of next year there will be his participation in the book fair in Egypt.

Sais explained that the game is now available with a model of the ancient Al-Hosn castle, and starting next month will also have models of the Arc de Triomphe and the Palmyra archaeological trapezoids.

Farouk Sais had previously participated in a project in the Entrepreneurs Competition “Takween” in its third edition 2022, and it reached the semi-final stage, and in the Syrian Book Fair that was held recently at the Al-Assad National Library.
