This time, luxury cars were the goal of the climate activists: members of the group "Scientist Rebellion" stuck to an M8 in the BMW Welt.

They also smeared other cars with a liquid.

The property damage is enormous.

Politicians are alarmed, the CSU is demanding consequences.

It happened on Saturday morning: 15 protesters broke into an exhibition room at BMW Welt.

Your main goal: a blue M8.

Price range depending on equipment: 130,000 euros and up.

One of the activists got into the posh coupé and stuck himself to the steering wheel.

One filmed the action, the others glued their hands to the outside of the body.

Fire alarm forces visitors outside

But that's not all.

A fire alarm was also activated by the intruders.

As a result, visitors to BMW Welt had to evacuate the building.

The troublemakers also threw a liquid at five vehicles.

It was artificial oil, as Alexander Grevel of "Scientist Rebellion" says.

"It was a colored sugar molasses." This is not as environmentally harmful as real oil.

The vehicles have become a target for climate activists because they are being built to go much faster than 100 kilometers per hour, Grevel said.

Tempo 100 is - in addition to the reintroduction of the 9-euro ticket - the main demand of the protesters.

The property damage is in the tens of thousands of euros

The activists caused considerable material damage with their action.

The police speak of several tens of thousands of euros.

The alarmed officials had their hands full to remove the air-conditioning adhesive from the body again.

They arrested the protesters, and 14 of them are now being investigated for trespassing, property damage and violation of the assembly law.

The triggered fire alarm is also the subject of the investigation.

Some of the protesters have been present at previous actions of the group.

The BlackRock building on Lenbachplatz had previously been occupied, and the activists had blocked Brienner Strasse and Karlsplatz and glued themselves to the street.

Again the protesters came from all over the world: three from Italy, five each from Spain and France, one from Greece and one from the USA.

Judge orders police custody

Even after their sticking action on Brienner Strasse, the activists had to spend a night at the police headquarters.

At that time, however, they were released again afterwards.

This time, however, a judge ordered the perpetrators to be taken into police custody - most of them until November 4th.

The activists had announced that they would continue their actions until that date.

This is now also calling the town hall policy on the plan, CSU Vice Hans Theiss asks the city leaders to act quickly.

"The so-called eco-activists are actually eco-criminals," says Theiss.

The end doesn't justify the means.

“I expect that the Greens in particular will clearly distance themselves publicly.

I think secret joy about attacks on paintings or massive obstructions to traffic is completely unacceptable.” The attack on BMW should be rejected in the strongest possible terms.

"These 'activists' have no respect for the industry that is responsible for the prosperity of our city and our country."
