The activities of the 27th University Theater Festival were launched on the theater of the House of Culture in Homs this evening, with the participation of a number of theater groups from various Syrian universities and institutes.
The festival, which is organized by the National Union of Syrian Students, includes nine theatrical performances that will be shown on the stage of Al-Zahrawi Theater and the Palace of Culture Theater until the third of November.
The head of the Executive Office of the National Union of Syrian Students, Dareen Suleiman, stressed the importance of the university theater, which presented great names of artists and creators who were present in the cultural and artistic scene in Syria and the Arab world.
She pointed out that the festival brings together students, professors, intellectuals and creators, considering that honoring a group of senior directors and playwrights in Homs within the university theater festival is a message that must be transmitted from one generation to another to preserve our Syrian culture.
The head of the Culture and Arts Office in the National Union of Syrian Students, Omar Al-Jabai, indicated that the university theater is an important carrier for the literary, cultural and artistic renaissance in society. .
Al-Jabai indicated that the production of theatrical works at the festival came after an effort and work set up by the National Union of Syrian Students, including courses and workshops in the field of acting, preparation and directing in all governorates, and that the performances varied in presentation and issues, as they were performed in a spirit of patriotism and responsibility.
The director of the university theater, Hashem Ghazal, said that the theater is that unique and distinguished world, and it is the vast and spacious space through which young people express their creativity and products.
After that, writers and directors Farhan Bulbul, Salam Al Yamani and Hassan Okla were honored.
The Tishreen University theater group presented a performance entitled “I wish it was a nightmare”, written by Ismail Khalaf and directed by a new Ragda.
The show, which was embodied by more than 10 actors, dealt with their lives during the war years and the oppression, sadness and pain they experienced through the loss of loved ones and their need for love in times of war.
The Suwayda Ensemble presented this afternoon at Al-Zahrawi Theater a show entitled "Letters of Dawn" by Walid Akil.
