Motorists who take the departmental 942 between Lumbres and Saint-Omer (Pas-de-Calais) know this roadside memorial.
Some also know that he is there to remember the terrible accident that occurred on April 8, 2011 which cost the life of Romain Boulogne, a young man from Moringhem, near Saint-Omer
.
"We hope it gives food for thought, that people take it easy when they see it
," says Marie-Claude, her mother.
They have to tell themselves that here a life is gone, at 21 years old.
This place is for people to remember.”
Initially, the Boulogne family had decided to place a black figure near the site of the accident.
Much more visible, it was deemed dangerous by the prefecture.
The small, very sober monument that replaced it has been maintained for ten years by the Romain family.
