Over the weekend, more than 200 migrants were rescued from distress trying to cross the English Channel.
They were taken to France.
According to the French coastal authority Premar, seven people were rescued off Dunkirk on Saturday.
In the night from Saturday to Sunday there were two rescue operations, three more took place on Sunday.
A total of 217 people were rescued.
Almost 1,000 people managed to cross the English Channel without distress on Saturday, reports the British government.
Since the beginning of the year, almost 40,000 people have undertaken the dangerous crossing of one of the busiest straits in the world.
The daily newspaper The Times reported on Friday that the new British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak wanted to conclude an agreement with France to limit illegal immigration from France via the English Channel.
Accordingly, Sunak wants to achieve an exact number of ships to be stopped and British border police officers to be deployed in France.
Man throws incendiary devices at rooms for migrants in Dover
British police are investigating a suspected racist arson attack in the southern English port of Dover.
Two to three incendiary devices were thrown at the premises of the Home Office for Migrants, Kent Police said on Sunday.
Two people were slightly injured.
Local media said the target of the assassination was a detention center for refugees illegally crossing the English Channel to Britain.
Home Secretary Robert Jenrick wanted to travel to the scene of the crime.
According to the police, the alleged perpetrator was found dead at a gas station near the scene of the crime.
The authorities initially did not confirm media reports that the man had killed himself.
In Dover, there are always protests against migration.
Local MP Natalie Elphicke told radio station LBC that tensions had recently increased.
The conservative politician also criticized party colleague and Home Secretary Suella Braverman for her recent statements about migrants.
Braverman said a few weeks ago that it was her "dream" to deport asylum seekers to Rwanda.
The conservative government in London wants to deter migrants with radical measures.
The government intends to fly out all people who enter the country illegally to East African Rwanda, where they can then apply for asylum.
A return to Great Britain is excluded.
