Israel must get out of the crisis: politics is only a means to realize ideas, not a goal Israel today

2022-10-31T20:16:56.720Z

There is no hope or logic in more rounds of elections that will not change anything • The people's elected officials - put an end to the bullshit • Do everything to end the devil dance of the endless elections • Achieving this goal will probably involve political upheavals within the camps or a transition between them - the damage is worth the benefit • These are expectations Naive, but in which the people are interested

"The elections to the Knesset will be on Tuesday, the third of the month of Cheshon of the year in which the term of office of the outgoing Knesset ended. However, if the year before it was a leap year, the elections will be on the first Tuesday of that month" (Basic Law: Knesset).

The fifth election to the Knesset in three and a half years, perhaps coincidentally, is being held today on the original date set by the legislator before Israel was plunged into the ongoing political crisis.

And again we went to the polls.

This symbolic timing is a signal and a sign of what the vast majority of Israeli citizens want: a return to normality.

99 percent of those who come to the polling stations today want to return and slip a note into an envelope in just four years, in Sheshvan 2026, November 2026.

Until then, we citizens expect our elected representatives to finish the troll.

Stop the boycotts between and within the camps.

Stop slandering and labeling.

Stop extremism.

Silence the network instigators.

Throw in the trash the poison capsules that have been endangering the Israeli public for too long.

Apart from a cloudy atmosphere, they did not contribute anything to us.

It is not only necessary to turn away from evil, but also to do good.

This means returning to a politics that deals with the way and not with personalities, respecting each other even when we disagree, and showing responsibility and leadership precisely in the difficult moments.

Above all, what is expected of our leaders starting tomorrow morning is to do everything to end the demonic dance of endless elections.

Sometimes it seems that the public enjoys the competition so much that it does not pay attention to the prices it itself pays - in the attacks, the loss of sovereignty, the weakness of the central government, the failures of the police, the danger of Arab nationalism, the cost of living, the housing prices, the density of life, the crowded roads, the exploding airport, the protectionism that swept the country

And we haven't even talked about the huge challenges of Iran, Hezbollah, Hamas and the Palestinians.

Such a backlog of problems should be dealt with by an effective government.

But when elections are held once every six months, there is no government and no effectiveness.

There is chaos that is taking over, and that must be stopped.

A stable national government - and preferably a unity government - is the body that is able to respond to all the above challenges. If one of the parties obtains a majority to establish it, what good.

But if again, this time too, no party will reach the threshold of 61 mandates, responsible politicians in both camps should burden themselves with the task of establishing a national and stable government for Israel.

Achieving this goal will probably involve political upheavals within the camps, or a transition between them.

However, the harm is worth the benefit.

Israel must get out of the crisis.

There is no hope or logic in rounds of elections that will not change anything.

There is no point in continuing from the fifth to the sixth, to the seventh, and so on.

Nothing that didn't happen in the fifth round will happen in the eighth or ninth.

Therefore, the brave players are needed to break the closed circle, to rescue Israel from the impasse.

They will not be considered deserters - as long as they maintain their ideological path - but heroes who saved their people in times of need.

The one who is already mentally ready to bear the burden is the president of the country, Yitzhak Herzog - the responsible adult of Israeli politics.

Herzog at least wants to follow in his father's footsteps, and in case of indecision bring unity to the government.

His intention is blessed.

Even after three and a half years of crisis and five rounds of elections, we must remember that politics is only a means to realize ideas and not an end in itself.

The competition, to which the public and the media pay the most attention, is fascinating but it is the least important.

Maybe these are naive expectations, but the people are interested in them.

Even if half of them come true, we will be judged.

were we wrong

We will fix it!
