Motion of censorship: Olivier Faure stands out (a little) from the Insoumis

2022-10-31T20:17:08.489Z

The two motions of censure, that of the Insoumis and that of the RN, were rejected this Monday, October 31 in the National Assembly. The first dry

The Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, took a malicious pleasure this Monday to throw oil on the fire.

The Assembly debated the motion of censure tabled by the rebels against the government on the social security bill.

Unlike last week, after 49.3 on the budget, LFI's allies, environmentalists, socialists and communists, did not wish to join in.

At the podium, Borne, rushing into this division on the left, quoted the First Secretary of the PS.

“Your motion of censure is Olivier Faure who speaks about it best, she launched.

It's a hubbub!

A little earlier, the socialist had indeed explained "this point of disagreement: with the repetition of 49.3 and their reply, the motion of censure, the risk taken is that of the continuous brouhaha which will only benefit the 'anti-parliamentarianism'.

After attacking Elisabeth Borne by assuring that "49.3 is a failure, your failure", he explained that, failing to share "the opportunity" of this new motion of censure, he shared "the meaning and content”.

Notable absences on the PS and PC side

This explains why once the time for the vote came, Olivier Faure finally voted for the text.

At 6:05 p.m., the ax fell.

For adoption: 218 votes.

Unsurprisingly, far from the 289 votes required.

The text obtained 21 votes less than the common motion of the left after the 49.3 on the budget.

And 12 of the missing votes go to the Socialist Party (PS).

Including Valérie Rabault, historically hostile to Nupes, who had voted in favor of the first motion and did not do so this time.

Among the ecologists, 19 deputies out of the 23 in the group voted for it.

On the communist side, there was in particular an absence of size, that of Fabien Roussel, the national secretary of the PC.

The Assembly rejects the motions of censure of the RN and LFI

Like last week, the RN supported the motion of censure from the Insoumis.

"The new union of populisms does not build an alternative majority", attacked the Prime Minister, pinning "the national preference on one side" and "an anachronistic version of the class struggle on the other".

The RN had also filed its own text, which the deputies of Marine Le Pen were the only ones to vote, with Nicolas Dupont-Aignan.

The parliamentarians then resumed the examination of the “Ecology, development and sustainable mobility” credits of the State budget.

It's hard to know how far the exchanges will go, but a new 49.3 on the state budget is already mentioned for this week...
