The subject occupied all the discussions only a week ago.

It already seems to have become a boring habit.

Monday afternoon, in response to the activation of 49-3 by the Prime Minister, Elisabeth Borne, to have the Social Security draft budget adopted, the groups La France insoumise (LFI) and Rassemblement national (RN) have defended in turn their motion of censure.

And this, in front of a rather wise Assembly, already accustomed to this tool of protest allowing, in the event of a favorable vote, the overthrow of the government.

The benches of the deputies of the presidential camp, visibly certain of the outcome of this new debate, were then almost empty.

As expected, these two motions were defeated.

And if, last week, Marine Le Pen succeeded in her "coup" and created the event by announcing to everyone's surprise that the deputies of her group would vote for the Nupes motion, the suspense around the adoption of these texts this time was as if stillborn.

LR does not give its votes

When the deputy Les Républicains (LR) Thibault Bazin speaks at the podium, everyone already knows what he is about to announce.

“The future Minister of Health”,

even quips an RN deputy even before the elected official declares that, like last week, the LR group will not vote for either of the two motions of censure.

Not wishing

“the institutional knockout”,

nor

“government holidays”,

the LR deputies highlight their

“spirit of responsibility”.

Howls from the LFI and RN benches.

The President of the National Assembly, Yaël Braun-Pivet, must crack down several times to obtain calm.

Just before, the interventions of Sébastien Chenu (RN) and Clémence Guetté (LFI) were offensive to say the least.

At the podium, the vice-president RN of the Assembly announces that his group,

"as free parliamentarians",

will continue to vote

"any other motion intended to have the government review its copy in the interest of France".

L’Insoumise, also responsible for presenting the motion of censure filed by her group:

“In macronie, at 8 p.m., we applaud the caregivers.

And at 8:01 p.m., we pull out the parliamentary truncheon to pass an austerity budget.

(…) Do not count on us to let everything pass, that is the meaning of this motion of censure.

Before launching to the members of the executive present:

“Beware of your own majority: even the most patient children can tire of playing Playmobil.”

The Prime Minister's response is no less combative: she launches an

"unnatural alliance"

and accuses LFI of

"maintaining confusion"

with the RN.

"The new alliance of populisms does not build an alternative majority,"

she quips, regretting the

"excesses"

and

"untruths"

of the two parties.

The meeting was marked by the very muscular intervention of the first secretary of the PS vis-à-vis the RN group.

“I will say simple and definitive things: we will never vote for any motion of the National Rally.

Everything separates us.

We are the heirs of the National Council of Resistance, (…) when you, on the far right, collaborated with Vichy.

Under the bewildered gaze of Marine Le Pen who, after a short break, had just reappeared in the Hemicycle.

The RN's motion therefore suffered the same fate as last week, with only 90 votes in favor, instead of the 289 required to succeed.

That of LFI, for its part, had a better fate, with 218 favorable votes, including the deputies of LFI, the RN, and some of the PS and the Greens.

Among the parliamentarians of these two groups, around twenty elected officials refused to give their vote.

The index of divisions to come within the Nupes?
